Greetings Permie Community, 

This July newsletter isn’t so much about plants today as it is about connecting people and places. Relationship building is just as integral to the garden as water and compost though it’s easily neglected. 

My Mission Statement is to Connect People, Place, and Plants through the Systems-Based approach of Permaculture. This statement brings together  A LOT of concepts, which could be put more simply as Social Permaculture.  I gravitate to community gardens, nonprofits, permaculture convergences, and symposiums because they are  full of  human connection.

I’m also fortunate because my early years were spent as an Army/Air Force brat moving around the country and world. I find that I need experiences that regularly bring me around different ages, colors, ethnic groups, etc. and when this doesn’t happen, I just don’t feel like myself. 

These resilient, self-regenerating groups are not just created from only like-mindedness but those driven to promote healthy interpersonal dynamics.  How is this done? I say it’s work, not easy and completely worth it!  Through a commitment to persevere with open dialogue we heal everyone.
